Three bases were featured for service members to vote on the most austere location in Multi-National Division - South. The bases included Joint Security Station Al Wahab offering tents, cots and no running water, Thar Allah Naval Base with the rats of legend and Patrol Base Mahawil featuring the unflushable toilet.
The votes are in and JSS Al Wahab takes the prize. The 2nd Battalion, 13th Cavalry Regiment Soldiers at the base will receive new gym equipment.
“It’s important for us all to remember that Soldiers across MND-S are making sacrifices in order to get our mission accomplished. I am proud of all of our great Soldiers,” said Maj. Gen. Rick Nash, MND-S commanding general. “The Soldiers at Patrol Base Mahawil, Thar Allah Naval Base and JSS Wahab set the standard for their attitude and perseverance in such difficult living conditions. We are looking forward to delivering some well-deserved exercise equipment to the 2-13 Cav. at JSS Al Wahab.”
