COB BASRA, Iraq – Soldiers took a chance to toot their own horns Thursday night at Contingency operating Base Basra. They were given the opportunity to sound the Gjallarhorn and win the honor of blowing it during the upcoming Vikings vs. Detroit game Sunday.
Capt. Dustin Snare, the battle captain for the 34th Infantry Division operations section, won the final honor by sounding off with a strong Viking blast. “My wife reads the Red Bull Report and told me about it,” he said.
Snare learned his blowing skills while playing tuba in high school. While many fans are holding their breath in anticipation of the game, Snare blew the competition away.
