The night of July 17, my thoughts were lost as my tongue stuttered. My heart bled and sadness covered my face. I did not recognize my own leader who was sitting in the bunker right next to me. Sadness clearly became present on the soldiers' and the commanders' faces.
My breath shortened with an angry heart crying for the three stars of peace that are now gone. The stars of freedom's hope have fallen. They will print with their blood the history of Iraq's Democracy for generations to come.
They came to plant the tree of liberty and democracy for the people of Iraq, watering it with their blood for the unity of Iraq's land. Thousands of fallen stars have left their footprints on the streets of Iraq by training Iraqi soldiers on all techniques to defeat any enemy that is trying to weaken the nation's security.
Heroes like these visit villages to secure the safety of the kids and put a smile in the faces of the orphans and the widows who have lost their husbands due to the enemies' attacks. They build schools to prepare the sons and daughters of Iraq for a better future. They remove IED's from the streets, putting their own lives at risk for the sake of the Iraqi people.
The freedom and democracy of Iraq is being nurtured by these proud American Eagles. As long as there is an evil hand hiding within the people, it will hold the people back. If the Iraqi people stand up and stop this evil hand by challenging terrorism, they can protect the unity of Iraq and its resources.
This is a letter to the beloved Iraqi people written with the blood of the American Eagles expressing their love and sacrifice to this great nation.
On that sad night, my heart cried and my eyes filled with tears for the loss of these stars of peace. This night will forever stay a memory in my heart. My condolences go to the parents of these stars, these eagles, these heroes who proudly wrote their names on the pages of peace, freedom and democracy. This was their gift to the great Iraqi people. They wrote with their blood on Iraq's soil and Iraq's history that Iraq is for all Iraqis regardless of their religion and languages. Though my heart is burdened with this sadness, I have hope. The sky is still full of stars shining their light to guide the world toward peace.
